Testimonials

St John's CE Academy

Our school has worked closely with the Kevin Kilcullen and the Local Motion Team for many years and in that time we have seen a vast improvement in lots of areas that are important to our children, staff and outer community. We are situated in a deprived area.

We achieved a Modeshift Gold Award for Sustainable Travel only through receiving guidance through the Local Motion Team.

We also have many in-school initiatives set up by the team to help us achieve our gold. We could not achieve Gold if it wasn’t for the guidance and support of the team and wouldn’t be able to run as many initiatives.

We think in this day and age with child obesity increasing that the only exercise they may get in a day is walking or cycling to school. The children’s health is very important to us and their safety is paramount. We believe that encouraging children to cycle or walk also helps with traffic congestion and also the environment lowering CO2 omissions. We insist children must be able to ride a bike before leaving our school as it is a life skill.

Furthermore our children are taught the safety elements that will challenge them when they are out on the streets not in the safety and comfort of our school gates.  We also think it is important that children know how to walk across roads safely and ride a bike safely on the roads, as one day they may need to travel to work on their bikes.

Kevin has been an inspiration to our school, encouraging children to ride their bikes, fixing bikes (as their parents don’t have the money or skills to do this) and inspiring confidence in young children.

Wendy Holmes - Parent of 1-1 pupil, Megan

We would highly recommend Wheel Education to anyone who is lacking confidence, wants to learn to ride or improve their biking skills.

Our daughter Megan had her first private session with Kevin on the 14th May. At this stage she could not ride, she was very nervous and overall lacked confidence.

After the first lesson Megan could ride and from being scared at the start of the lesson she came home excited, big smiles...buzzing!!!!

She went on to hav further lessons and her confidence and ability got better and better every time.

She even went onto roads which we never thought would happen. Seeing her ride around South Park with Kevin was a very proud and memorable moment.

We cannot praise Kevin enough, the relationship he formed with Megan was so special. She listened to everything he said and tried to apply this in her bike riding. Kevin was very approachable, clear with instructions, reassuring when Megan needed it and very encouraging with praise and even a well done card.
From these lessons Megan was able to register for bikeability 2 at her school - something we thought she would never want or be able to do.
She achieved this because of Kevin's belief in her. Megan wants to say ' Thank you Kevin for being the best teacher, teaching me to ride my bike and believe I could do it !!! "

The Rydal Academy

Kevin has supported The Rydal Academy in growing a culture of sustainable transport over a number of years. He has delivered high quality sessions in cycling, scooting and bike maintenance across Key Stages 1 and 2 which have been very well recieved by pupils; as well as workshops and drop in sessions for parents. He has been instrumental in working alongside staff to achieve Modeshift Stars Sustrainable Travel Gold Award and in the project which led to the school receiving the Modeshift Stars Regional Award for Promoting Cycling.
